I am sitting here watching TEACH on NBC. What a great program. I was a teacher for 25
years.
One thing I know for sure is that reading and understanding
what you read
Is more than
important, it's critical. In the automotive industry you
have to read in order to keep up with all new technology. I hate reading
but start out slow and what I do is read a few lines then digest the
information. Read some
more and continue to do the same. I don’t care how long it takes but in
order for me to
understand something , I may have to read
it a few times ! As a teacher, I
understand the
frustration because I was a student once too. As a tech in
the field of old school I could diagnose anything but with
technology
Today, you have to
read service manuals or internet publications to be
able to fix these vehicles
today! Diagnostics is critical
and mandatory
to make repairs today. Remember when you were a kid and
asked your Dad or
Mom, why something was the way it is, well don’t stop asking why ever!! If
you want to fix something then asking why it broke in the
first place is
important! Anyone can
replace parts but WHY did the part fail in the first place? I don’t care if you’re
10
or 100, anyone can read butunderstanding what
you read is important. It is the way of
life to get
knowledge and how to get through it! Unfortunately our school systems
are crippled due to monetary constraints, but it is up to us as
individuals to say “I
will do this and better myself for it”! Stop wasting
time on video games and surfing the net and pick up a book
or service
Manual or online publication and read it! Some of my students used to say
"I can't do this" well my thought processes say
" Can't means wont!" so I
don't beleive in I can't do this, I believe in "They don't make NOTHIN I
can't fix", and
as long as there is a book or publication out there along
with common sense, I CAN fix anything and so CAN you! READ!
READ! READ!
READ! Once you start you wont stop and you'll find out that there is
Nothing in life that
you can't overcome! I set up this site
to help you
all out! The old saying is "You can lead a horse to
water but you can't
make him drink it" well! Listen up horsey, sooner or later your gonna get
thirsty and your gonna have to drink something! Do me a favor and get
THIRSTY as hell and start reading and if you do, your thirst will increase
and so will your knowledge and diagnostic capabilities! Trust
me, I have 55 years of experience behind
me to be able to say all this. Some day you will learn what
I learned, everything my father told me was
true and now I sound just like him! OH LORD HELP ME!
